Hafnarborg oversees the collection of public art owned by the town of Hafnarfjörður, being responsible for its conservation and representation, with the aim of making it known to the general population, as an important part of Icelandic heritage. It should, however, be noted that the list published here is not exhaustive of all public artworks located in the open spaces of Hafnarfjörður, as more such works can be found around town, owned by various organisations, companies or private individuals. Moreover, the Hafnarborg Collection is listed in the museum collection database Sarpur, which is open to the public at sarpur.is.
National and international copyright laws protect the artwork here presented. Publishing of the artwork on this website is based on an Extended Collective License (ECL) between Myndstef and the museum, according to the Icelandic copyright bill. This ECL also permits the use of the artworks for research, educational or private use. The artworks may not be reproduced or made public in any other way. Please contact Myndstef for further information or in order to obtain a license ([email protected]).
